An SEC member institution, the University of Kentucky proudly embraces the conference’s rich history of southern character and fraternity and its Interfraternity Council promotes those avenues through which one can achieve the life of a fraternity man – a life committed to foundational pillars of fellowship, scholarship, and service.
Our campus hosts nineteen diverse fraternal chapters – a representation of our multifaceted student body. Though their “letters” are different, each chapter commits to a higher standard, one of selflessness and distinction. Greek men at the University of Kentucky pledge to academic excellence, earning the highest grade point averages among undergraduates males. They donate time, effort, and charity to local, national, and international service organizations, and they populate the most competitive athletic intramural leagues at the University.
Historically, Greek men have risen faster than others to the pinnacles of professional leadership, succeeding in fields of business, medicine, media, public service, and philanthropy. Understandably, the pedigree of a fraternity man is difficult to ignore. University Interfraternity Council chapters recognize Greek involvement breeds success. Committed to service and overall excellence, their members assume campus leadership positions in organizations such as Student Government, DanceBlue, student ministries, and honor societies.
Tasked with governance and oversight, Kentucky IFC ensures the University’s fraternities recruit the most capable, promising male students with the intention to produce better fraternity men, men who embody respectability, leadership, academic excellence, and activism. Its Executive Council works diligently to enhance the lives of those individuals eager to enjoy brotherhood and deeply rooted rituals, while promoting a safe, enriching environment of sustained distinction and merit.
Fraternally,
Nolan M. Jackson, ‘13
